A native of East Texas, Sam enlisted in the United States Air Force immediately after graduating high school. Over the next decade, he served in the Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Reinhardt University, graduating summa cum laude in 2000, and later attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, graduating in 2003. Sam received his direct commission in 2001 and returned to active duty in 2003 as an Air Force Chaplain.
Sam concluded a distinguished 32-year military career in 2021, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His service included deployments to the Middle East and South America, as well as notable recognition as the Air Education and Training Command Chaplain Corps Company Grade Officer of the Year and the United States Air Force Chaplain Corps Company Grade Officer of the Year in 2004. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
Following his military retirement, Sam earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. He was inducted into the International Legal Honor Society of Phi Delta Phi for academic excellence and professional ethics, received the St. Mary’s Public Service and Pro Bono Award, Faculty Award for Excellence and graduated with certificates in Business Law Compliance & Risk Management, and Health Care Compliance.
Sam’s practice centers on estate planning, business formation, and mediation. He is a trained mediator in both general civil and advanced family law mediation, with focused experience in dispute resolution. His approach is grounded in respect, professionalism, confidentiality, and a steadfast dedication to client trust.
Outside the office, Sam and his wife Bobbi enjoy riding motorcycles, watching Major League Baseball, and spending time with their four children, five grandchildren, and their two French Bulldogs.
